Carnmoney amateur league side 4th Newtownabbey F.C were dramatically crowned champions of division 2C last Tuesday evening.
With Brian Dickson’s men finishing off their campaign winning 1-0 away to Co. Down Rangers with a solitary goal from D. Trimble, Wesley looked to have sealed the league needing one win from their two remaining fixtures. One of these was a local derby with Co. Down which they failed to overcome drawing 2-2.

This made the last game of the season against Drumbo a tense and nervy night for all and with a huge turnout at Wallace Park a fascinating encounter was played. Drumbo matched the home side’s efforts and indeed with the better chances, it was the Drumbo forward who netted the games only goal. The final whistle sparked huge celebrations on the sidelines from the traveling 4th squad.

After it looked as Dickson’s men had thrown it away with 2 consecutive away defeats and a nail biting end to the season, 4Th Newtownabbey can now look forward in challenging 2B as champions.
