Montgomery wins Captain's Day prize

LAST Saturday was Jim Crook's Captain's Day at Ballyclare Golf Club but the wet weather forced a number of golfers to finish early or for some not even to start their round.
But there was field of 251 hopefuls and the best scores came from the very early starters of the late afternoon starters who missed most of the heavy rain showers.
It was one of the later starters - a new member Ken Montgomery playing off a 17 handicap who was the overall winner on 40 points.
Jim Crook's Captain's Day - 1, Ken Montgomery 40 pts; 2, Arthur Laverty 39 pts BL6; 3, Brian Tumilty 39 pts; 4, Denis Ralston 38 pts.
Gross - 1, Colin Steele 36 pts; 2, Alan Lilley 33 pts.
Past Captains - Davy Dodds 37.
Council - Billy Millar 33.
Visitor - Bobby Turner 35.
Ladies - Denise Burke 46.
Best first nine - Arnold Crawford 23.
Best second nine - A. Greer 19.
Longest Drive at 14th - Paul Thompson.
Nearest pin at 11th - Colin Steele.
Nearest pin second shot at 18th - Colin Steele.
0-9 section - 1, Alastair Moore 36 pts BSN; 2, Barry Kidd 36 pts.
10-15 section - 1, Russell Crawford 37 pts BSN; 2, Sam Purdy 37 pts.
