PARKVIEW Ladies picked up a Senior League Section 2 point from their local derby clash with Greenisland Ladies which ended in a scoreless draw.
Conditions were good at Carrick Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon, but with both defences being in top form, the strikers had a lean time.
Greenisland shaded the first half during which they mounted several attacks through the middle, so that
central defenders Laura Chalmers and Gail Nicholson had to work overtime, with support from full backs Claire Dundee and Emma Stubbs.
Goalkeeper Sharon Gaffney had to be alert on several occasions, especially from a couple of penalty corners, but the Doagh girls did manage to mount counterattacks. However the best that they could muster was a few penalty corners from which Nikki Turkington, Zoe Purdy and Gail Nicholson tested the home goalie.
After the interval Parkview concentrated on pushing more players forward, with Joy Hargie and Angela Halaseh, prompted by central midfielders Karen Barr and team captain Susie Weir, making ground down the flanks from time to time.
Once they got within the vicinity of the circle the Greenisland defenders gave nothing away, especially from four penalty corners from which efforts by Hargie, Purdy and Barr were all cleared.
Halaseh almost stole the points when put through by Turkington, but her finishing effort flew over the bar with only the keeper to beat, while at the opposite end Barr made a crucial goal-line clearance in a Greenisland attack.
Overall a draw was a fair result and Karen Barr took the Girl of the Game honours.
