This game kicked off 20 minutes late due to a mix up, with six teams trying to play on two pitches. But as usual Newtownabbey's paperwork was in order and the game eventually got under way.
The waiting about seemed to have a negative affect on N
ewtownabbey as for the first 20 minutes they put in a really lacklustre performance. Jackie Moore, Graeme Pratt and the hard working Sammy Donaldson were all guilty of squandering great chances, until the 25th minute when Jackie Moore finally found his shooting boots, with a crisp shot accross the keeper to put the men from Maloneys 1-0 up.
This was closely followed with the move of the game involving Robert Macklin, Paul Harper and the evergreen Greame Pratt linking to supply Jackie Moore with his 2nd of the day.
Early in the second half Newtownabbey took their foot off the gas and an unforced error by Robert Macklin allowed Moyola's striker to lift the ball coolly over the advancing Lavelle.
This dull and uninspiring game was finished when last years player of the year Jackie Moore got his sides 3rd to make the final score Newtownabbey 3 Moyola 1.
Commenting after the match manager Soupy Campbell said' After last weeks hardworking performance today was all about winning ugly.
A lot of hard work is needed if we are to continue with our good start to the season, but maximum points so far this season leaves us in a stronger position this year than in previous seasons'.
