THE ladies of Straid WI were joined by members of Ballynure, Carrickfergus, Gleno and Mossley Institutes for their April meeting.
The guest speaker was Margaret Torrens, who entertained the crowd with anecdotes and poems relating to her many years working in the agriculture sector.
The competition for the Cutest Animal Ornament was won by Elizabeth Bridgham, with Lorna Logan second and Valerie Green third.
The Magazine Prize winner was Ann Bonnes.
Ballot prizes were won by: Eleanor Cochrane (Ballynure), Elizabeth McCullough (Carrickfergus), Carol Baird (Gleno), Dorothy Auld (Mossley) and Pat Patton (Straid).
Meanwhile, members of Straid WI were saddened to learn of the death of Eileen Hagan, a Foundation and Honorary member. Eileen served many times on Committee and was a well respected and loyal member.
Although ill-health prevented her from attending meetings in recent years, Eileen was always interested to hear all the news from the Institute.
Members expressed their sympathy to her sons, Ian and Fergus, their families, and the wider family circle.
