DO YOU know what the acronym 'BPWMGINFWMY' stands for? Well if you are in Carnmoney this September you will see a lot of people wearing badges bearing letters like these.
East Antrim District Union is hosting the annual Irish Christian Endeavour Convention in Carnmoney Presbyterian this year and the theme of the 2008 convention is 'Work in Progress'.
Philip McCall, a Christian Endeavourer leader said: "None of us as
people are the finished article and yet Christians can take great comfort from Hebrews Chapter 10 where the writer tells us that we have been made perfect in Christ. Verse 14; "By one sacrifice He has made perfect for ever those who are being made holy". That is not to say that we do not sin even as Christians, because clearly we do, but I believe this means that we are perfect in God's sight in that nothing more needs to be done to forgive us.
"A sacrifice has been made which has taken care of everything once and for all and need not be repeated. That is of course the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. If you are a Christian, a true believer in Jesus Christ, what a privilege it is to know that despite all of our failings and sinfulness as Christians, we remain perfect in God's sight for when he looks at us he does not see our sins anymore but the work and blood of Jesus.
"Finally, this does not mean that we should be lax in our attitude towards our sins or be complacent about them, indeed the very fact that we are God's children should compel us to have the continuing desire to live lives worthy of our calling and must have a profound effect on us so that one of our life motto's as Christians will be: "Be patient with me God is not finished with me yet!"
