GLENGORMLEY Methodist Church will host a special Musical Evening on Sunday, June 14 to support 13 members who are off on Mission work this summer.
The collection of home-grown talent will be managed by Thomas Brown, the Musical Director, and Karen Orr, nee Marsden, and will include a variety of solo and group singers, including the popular Youth Choir.
A special offering at the event will add
essential finance for the ambitious Mission programmes being undertaken by members of the church this summer.
Six girls - Jennie Adair, Laura Bowers, Ashleigh Craig, Claire Cully, Rachel McCloy and Gillian Taylor - are joining an all-female 13 member team, led by local Mission worker Cheryl Patterson and her mother Hilary, in an ambitious building and community project in Uganda; Belfast High School deputy head girl Leah Gamble, is on a Asterias project to Kenya; Glengormley High School pupil, Michael Crossan, is off to Cyprus with the Spirit of Enniskillen Trust, and veteran campaigner, Trevor McMillan, is leading a team of tradesmen to Macedonia, organised by 'Labour in Faith and Trust', to build a school classroom.
The Youth Choir, after a hectic season of engagements, will be out to support its young members, Katy Broadhurst and Matthew Horner, who travel to Sri Lanka with veteran missionary, Albert Houston, who has previously been supported by Glengormley Methodist on his many trips to Romania.
The Musical Evening promises to be time of celebration and musical challenge, with Karen Orr leading the solo line-up. Also performing will be the newly formed Men's Choir, renowned artist Glenn Shields, and Thomas Brown and his wife, Katrina.
The concert will start at 6.30pm, and admission is free. Refreshments will be provided by the Church Hospitality Team.
For further information, telephone the Church Office on 9083 5306.
