A 100th Anniversary Service of Prayers for Christian Unity was held at Hazelwood Integrated Primary School on Sunday, January 20.
Speaking at the event, Jill Houston, Principal of Hazelwood Integrated Primary School said, "We are delighted to hold this very special service on the 100th year of the practice of praying for Christian Unity. The service has been drawn up jointly by
the Irish Council of Churches and the Catholic Church in Ireland and has the theme of recognising our dependence on God - 'Pray without Ceasing'.
"A question which may well be asked today is 'how much more united are the Christian churches after 100 years?' It is something that we should all consider and reflect on. Everyone is very welcome to explore this further."
Michael Wardlow, Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE), added: "This is an annual service and it was felt that Hazelwood IPS was a suitable venue this year due to the recent erection of a peace wall in the school grounds.
"The school continues to draw pupils from both sides of the community and this illustrates that bridges can be built and a better future achieved through giving children an education that ensures they have the opportunity to understand, respect and celebrate all cultural and religious traditions."
The service was jointly led by a Catholic Priest and a Church of Ireland Minister and among those who attended were pupils, staff and members of the NICIE Board of Directors.
The service was held as part of Prayer for Christian Unity Week which ran from January 18 to 25.
