Call for employers to back work programme

THE borough’s employers have been urged to support a new work programme developed by Rathcoole Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership.

Speaking at Monday night’s council meeting, Macedon councillor Billy Webb called on employers across Newtownabbey to back the new initiative.

He said: “Young people in Rathcoole are looking for opportunities to develop their employability skills through hands-on volunteering opportunities in their local area.

“These young people aim to develop relationships with employers that can offer mutually beneficial opportunities to the well-prepared, inspirational and motivated young group.

“The young people will develop employability skills through hands-on volunteering opportunities in their local area.”

Councillor Webb believes large and small employers in the borough could benefit from the scheme.
