Calling all the borough’s ‘Spring Chickens’

A CONSULTATION involving representatives from Newtownabbey Borough Council and feedback from local groups has revealed that senior citizens tend to feel excluded from community relations activities.

In response to the feedback, the council has appointed ‘Big Telly’s Spring Chickens’ to work with Newtownabbey’s senior citizens to develop and deliver a drama production through a series of workshops. The end production will focus on good relations and the past in Northern Ireland.

Claire Fox, Good Relations Officer for the council commented: “Spring Chickens is an innovative creative arts project which focuses on increasing creative expression and engagement among older people throughout Northern Ireland. The upcoming project will be a great way for those involved to show the value they can provide to younger generations and also to share their experiences of a changing Northern Ireland.”

Judith Pillow, Creative Arts Facilitator for the project, will be working with groups and individuals from across the borough and is very keen to get senior citizens engaged and involved in this production.

She is looking for older people who would like to get involved in drama, backstage production or participate in any way which interests them. If you would like to know more, or would be interested in becoming involved, then please contact Judith on Tel: 028 7083 1782 or email: springchicken@big-telly.com
