Members’ tribute to former worker

THE council is to send a letter of condolence to the family of former employee Raymond Russell, who passed away on Saturday, November 3.

At their Environment Committee meeting on Monday evening, members paid tribute to Mr Russell, who was a key member of the council’s maintenance team for more than 20 years prior to his retirement in March 2006.

“Raymond was a gentleman. He was always courteous; a bright and bubbly man who always had a kind word and was always very helpful,” alderman Paul Girvan commented.

Passing on their sympathies, committee members agreed that the council should send a letter of condolence to Mr Russell’s family.

A service of thanksgiving for Mr Russell’s life was held in Glengormley Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 6. He was later laid to rest at Ballyclare Cemetery.
