PSNI ask local people for help in investigation into attempted murder of an off duty police officer

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch investigating the attempted murder an off duty police officer at his home in east Belfast have appealed to people living in the Doagh Road/Manse Road area of Newtownabbey for information.

The officer and his wife and children were about to leave their Upper Newtownards Road home for lunch on Sunday, December 30 when a bomb was discovered under the family car.

Earlier this week leaflets were delivered to hundreds of local households asking people for help tracing a male who travelled in a taxi from Belfast city centre to the Doagh Road/Manse Road area between 11pm on December 29 and 3am the following day.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who noticed a taxi in the Doagh Road/Manse Road area during this time period.
