THE Chair of Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee, Pat Martin, has welcomed the launch of a new Facebook page promoting road safety across the province.

The Road Safety Council of Northern Ireland - a group of volunteers representing the five remaining local road safety committees in Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Foyle, Ballymoney and Lisburn - was forced to shut down its website due to financial constraints. But now the Council has launched its new information page on the popular social networking site.

“We have had to close down the website due to lack of funding. It was four years out of date,” Mrs Martin, who is also Chair of the Road Safety Council of Northern Ireland, explained. “It will be great to have a page which is easily accessible.”
