A MERVILLE woman has become the first female recipient of a prestigious construction management award.

Sarah Marshall, project manager for Amey Ventures Management Services was awarded the best overall performance award in Ireland in 2012 for her outstanding results in the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Experienced Practitioner Assessed (EPA) Programme.

Sarah is the first female candidate to attain this recognition as best EPA student in Ireland since the inception of the programme in 2006.

This now allows Sarah to move forward and become a Chartered member of CIOB.

The EPA programme is aimed at providing further skills to managers who have over five years experience in the construction sector.

Awards were presented at the CITB-ConstructionSkills NI and CIOB Presentation of Awards ceremony in January.

Sarah underwent her CIOB training with Carnmoney-based QTAS - Quality Training and Assessment Services - which provides management training and assessment to construction employers.

Director Martin Cushnahan said: “I would like to congratulate Sarah on her outstanding performance in attaining this achievement, she has worked incredibly hard and faced tough competition from other participants.”
