ROADS Service officials are due to attend a public meeting in Glengormley tonight (Wednesday 9 January) to inform residents and business owners about the latest plan to close the Hightown Road for up to a year.
It is understood that Roads chiefs will be asked to detail their reasons for excluding the erection of a temporary bridge as an option at the site, and to inform the meeting about the measures which will be put in place in a bid to alleviate disruption to residents, businesses and motorists during the bridge demolition and replacement works.
The meeting, which will also hear from several local politicians, will take place at Edmund Rice College at 7.30pm.
The 50-year-old bridge, which is being replaced for safety reasons as part of the M2 widening project, will close to traffic from January 21.
