Queen's Park Residents Group would like to thank councillor Paul Girvan for his representation on their behalf to the Housing Executive.
This has resulted in the Housing Executive changing its decision on the positioning of the kitchen window in the new extensions currently being built in Queen's Park.
Its original decision was for the kitchen window to be placed at the side of the extension which meant there would be no natural light getting into the kitchen and also no clear view into the back gardens.
Residents felt this was a safety hazard as they would not be able to see who might be approaching the property from the rear.
The resident's committee has been disputing this issue with the Housing Executive since before Christmas 2007 but were unable to secure consultation or meetings on the subject of the refurbishments.
Thanks to councillor Girvan, it is now hoped that ongoing consultation will be forthcoming.
