A NEWTOWNABBEY family have welcomed home a lost family member just in time for Christmas.

Charlie, a Miniature Schnauzer dog, went missing from his Carntall Road home two weekends ago - much to the distress of his owners.

However, after an appeal in the Times last week for readers to help find the plucky pup, a number of people got in touch to assist in locating Charlie.

Kelly Kidd, Charlie’s owner, said: “After the appeal went in the paper we got a couple of phone calls from people saying he might have been seen around Bruslee.

“We walked through fields, farmhouses, climbed fences and were frozen solid during the search, but eventually we found footprints that belonged to a dog.

“We followed them for miles and they led us right to Charlie - cold and wet but well.

“He had been camping out in an abandoned shed just off the Larne Line. He’s home now and we are all very relieved and would like to thank the Times and its readers for the help finding him.”
