A NEW Carnmoney business is aiming to bring clarity and focus to the local community.

Husband and wife team Michael and Caroline Allen, who both live in Carnmoney, are opening a new branch of Mackey Opticians on Monday, July 30.

The new practice on the Carnmoney Road is part of Northern Ireland’s largest group of independent opticians.

It will offer a full range of services including free NHS eye exams, free contact lens trials, home visits and a large range of stylish frames to suit all budgets.

Optometrist Michael previously worked in the Belfast Cityside branch, (formerly Yorkgate), of Mackeys for the past 10 years.

He said: “We know the community well. Caroline has lived in Carnmoney all her life and I have lived here for the past eight or nine years and we wanted to bring our business to it - it was the only place really.

“With there being no opticians in Carnmoney, people have said to us that it is something they need as they have to travel to the likes of Glengormley or the Abbeycentre, which can be inaccessible in terms of finding parking spaces.

“We believe in good customer service and want to provide a community service offering good value for money in a convenient location.”
