Ballyclare band the Major Sinclair Memorial represented the town in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday, August 13 at the World Pipe Band Championships.

The Grade 4A Sinclair played well and managed one better than last year, coming 5th in a Grade of 37 bands and receiving a plaque and cheque for their efforts.

The band were led to their success by 18-year-old John Fittis who also played with the Seven Towers from Ballymena in their winning performance in Grade 2.

John is Pipe Sergeant of the band and the Pipe Major’s son and can play with both bands provided he plays in the Pipe Majors position with the Sinclair in competition.

Speaking of the band’s achievement, John Fittis Senior said that the whole day was a resounding success with everything going to plan and a deserved reward for the hard work that everyone put in.
