PREPARATIONS are well under way for this year’s Shoreline Festival, which will take place at Loughshore Park, Jordanstown over the bank holiday weekend of Saturday 25 to Monday 27 August.

The packed programme of events, which this week got the seal of approval from The King himself, will feature a variety of family fun events and activities, climaxing with a spectacular fireworks display over Belfast Lough.

As in previous years, the festival will include a daily Family Fun Zone with bouncy castles, arts and crafts, archery, slack-lining and a mobile climbing wall. Fabulous acts such as Ronnie Greer and The Elvis Spectacular are lined up for this year’s evening concerts, while the grand finale ‘Live Classics in the Park’ will star singing sensations Marie Flavin, Rebekah Coffey and baritone Ben McAteer.

New additions to this year’s festival include Blackberry Farm’s ‘Little Mobile Farm’, giving visitors the opportunity to hold, pet and feed cute and furry animals. There will also be the opportunity to try out the latest craze and learn how to get about on a Segway upright vehicle, and daredevils who like to test their nerve can take on the high wire course in the Activ8 Olympic Challenge. For those looking for something a little more sedate, teams are being invited to enter the sandcastle building competition.
