Grand Opera House launches search for ugly duckling

Following on from the huge success of Bugsy Malone in 2011, the Grand Opera House Summer Youth Project is egg-stremely pleased to announce Honk! as its selected musical for 2012.

Based on Hans Christian Anderson’s well known tale, the musical comedy tells the story of an odd looking baby duck named Ugly and his quest to find his mother.

Requiring a cast of 220 10-18 year olds, registration for the auditions is now open and the registration form can be accessed and completed via the Grand Opera House website - www.goh.co.uk.

The registration period will close tomorrow (Friday, February 17), and all those who register successfully will be invited to audition on Sunday, March 4 at the Grand Opera House.

Sponsored by The Cooperative, the Grand Opera House Summer Youth Project runs over a two week period from Sunday 15 - Sunday 29 July inclusive. Successful participants are required to attend every day of the project which will culminate in five public performances of Honk! from Thursday 26 - Sunday 29 July.

The cost of participation in the project is £140 per child, 50 per cent of which is payable as a non refundable deposit when casting has been completed. A limited number of bursaries are available.
