High praise can’t stop Stacey leaving model competition

SHE went diving with sharks and became the envy of glamour model Katie Price, so despite not winning Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, local teenager Stacey Haskins certainly made her mark on the national television show.

The 19-year-old Newtownabbey girl, who was in the contest for six weeks and outlasted seven other contestants in the televised competition, said the experience had strengthened her passion for modelling.

Stacey lost out in last week’s episode of the competition despite guest judge Katie Price - aka glamour model Jordan - telling her she had amazing long legs. In what was her final appearance on the show, Stacey melted viewers’ hearts when she broke down in tears while recounting how she had been bullied at school and had suffered low self-esteem.

Stacey said becoming a fashion model was her dream and she described being on the show as “unbelievable” although she added she was disappointed at losing out.
