THE Clare Chorale choir will continue its 10th anniversary celebrations with a special concert of immense musical variety on Saturday, March 9 in Ballyclare High School.

Under the leadership of Ballynure woman Sheelagh Greer (Choir Director) and Darren Baird (accompanist), the 36-strong mixed choir will provide a rich mixture of secular and sacred music, drawing on a range of new pieces from the shows, folk, traditional and spiritual, including its signature song Caledonia, and finishing with the renowned ‘Anthem’ from the hit musical Chess.

The special anniversary event will be graced by the presence of local celebrity Father Eugene O’Hagan from The Priests - the classical musical group that has enjoyed chart success across the globe. In addition, another local musical supremo, Willy Hill will conduct his Ballyduff Silver Band through a stimulating array of brass band favourites.

Richard Yarr, a renowned BBC Radio producer and presenter, will compere the annual concert.

“This 10th annual concert promises to be the best mix of music to date,” said leading Irish mezzo-soprano Sheelagh Greer, who has been the driving force behind the choir over its lifetime.

It has been a busy few months for Clare Chorale, having performed in Cavan, Omagh, Broughshane and Ballyclare. A trip to Dundee is planned for late April.

Tickets for the show on March 9 (7.30pm start) can be purchased from Choir Secretary Kay Johnston by telephoning 07973 777719.
