Sophie hands over £2k to brain injury charity

JORDANSTOWN girl Sophie Hanvey has presented the Child Brain Injury Trust with a cheque for over £2,000 following a recent fundraiser in the Ulster Transport Bowling Club.

More than 120 people descended on the Jordanstown club for the event hosted by quiz master Andy Morrow. A raffle was also organised followed by an auction which was presided over by Barry Hamilton.

Money was also raised with a pitch and toss event organised by Ian Hanvey, and Andrew Richardson - Jordanstown’s answer to Paul Daniels - performed his very own magic act with card tricks.

Everyone had a great evening and were very supportive and £2,105 was raised for the Child Brain Injury Trust.

Following a brain haemorrhage in December 2005 the charity played a major role in helping and supporting Sophie readjust to life.

Since then she has held numerous fundraisers for the charity, including a triathlon, raising thousands of pounds of cash to help provide vital care and support to others who have suffered brain injuries.

The 20-year-old is currently studying sports science at the Belfast Metropolitan College.

Sophie and boyfriend Rowan Prendiville organised the charity night and thanked everyone who contributed to the worthy cause.
