JORDANSTOWN girl Sophie Hanvey has presented the Child Brain Injury Trust with a cheque for over £2,000 following a recent fundraiser in the Ulster Transport Bowling Club.

More than 120 people descended on the Jordanstown club for the event hosted by quiz master Andy Morrow. A raffle was also organised followed by an auction which was presided over by Barry Hamilton.

Money was also raised with a pitch and toss event organised by Ian Hanvey, and Andrew Richardson - Jordanstown’s answer to Paul Daniels - performed his very own magic act with card tricks.

Everyone had a great evening and were very supportive and £2,105 was raised for the Child Brain Injury Trust.

Following a brain haemorrhage in December 2005 the charity played a major role in helping and supporting Sophie readjust to life.

Since then she has held numerous fundraisers for the charity, including a triathlon, raising thousands of pounds of cash to help provide vital care and support to others who have suffered brain injuries.

The 20-year-old is currently studying sports science at the Belfast Metropolitan College.

Sophie and boyfriend Rowan Prendiville organised the charity night and thanked everyone who contributed to the worthy cause.

They thanked sponsors Marie, Scott and the Ulster Transport Bowling Club committee; Danny Corr - ZKJ coach; Andy Morrow of the Diving Academy; Chris Wright of Wrights Autos; The Kinara in Whiteabbey village, Kenya Law from the Cosy Chair in Whiteabbey; Ursula and Adrian at Theatre at the Mill; John Cosgrove at Ballyearl Leisure Centre; Colin Maguire from Maguire’s Butchers Whiteabbey; Teresa Ferguson from Ladbrokes Whiteabbey; Sports Direct at Yorkgate; The Village Pharmacy Whiteabbey; Stephen Bartley at Valley Leisure Centre; trainer Sarah McMullan from DW Sports; Hugh Carslaw from the Ulster Transport Bowling Club; Peter and Linda Stewart and May Mullan at the Vivo on Circular Road; Jenny Ireland; Colin Gallagher, Margaret and Lance Prendiville; Joseph Rea the Jewellers; Currys, Newtownabbey; Robin Moore; Alister Bell; and everyone who donated online.
