GLENGORMLEY girl Katrina Donaldson has been selected to compete in the final of the Face of Northern Ireland beauty pageant later this year.
The 19-year-old, who is better known to may people as ‘KT Rihanna’ - Ireland’s only Rihanna tribute act - was presented with her finalist’s sash and tiara by competition organiser Taylor-Rae Hamilton on Sunday, May 20.
Katrina, who is being sponsored by Lizzie Agnew Bridal Shop, got involved in the competition after hearing about it through friends on a social networking website.
“I thought it would be a great idea to explore another aspect of my life as I love trying new things,” Katrina told the Times. “A large number of girls entered and only 48 in total were chosen for the Junior, Teen and Senior finals.”
The grand finale of the pageant will take place at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on August 23. A range of awards will be up for grabs on the final night, including ‘Miss Publicity’ and ‘Miss Charity’.
The overall winner of the Face of Northern Ireland title will win an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland Paris to compete in the Face Of Europe 2012 competition, as well as an array of other prizes.
Katrina, who will be up against 16 other girls in the Senior final of the contest, says she is very excited about getting the chance to compete for the Face of Northern Ireland crown.
“This is all a new experience to me, but after hearing from previous finalists, meeting last year’s winner Robyn Keegan and organiser Taylor-Rae Hamilton, I know it is going to be an experience I will never forget. I’ll also get to meet a number of other girls who will be with me throughout the competition and therefore I’ll get the chance to build new friendships.”
