A quantity of arms and ammunition was uncovered in Bawnmore in March 1986.
Alliance representative, John Blair, congratulated the police and the army for their “good work” in making the find at Dandy Street.
He said: “I shudder to think of the consequences if these arms had been put to use.
“It has been proved once again that there is a necessity to inform the police if one has any information which could be useful to them in finding equipment which could maim and murder.”
Mr Blair urged anyone with information about the find to contact the police. He said:“I would appeal to anyone with information about this particular weapons find to forward it to the RUC.”
