MOSSLEY Mill has won the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland’s (IHAI) ‘Best Site/Museum’ award for 2012.

The IHAI awards recognise individuals and organisations that have contributed to the preservation and promotion of Ireland’s industrial heritage.

The IHAI’s Annual General Meeting was held at Mossley Mill on Saturday, April 21, and following the AGM participants took part in a tour of the mill site, finishing off in Museum at The Mill where Mayor Billy Webb accepted the prestigious award from the Association Chairman, Colin Rynne.

“I am delighted to accept this award which recognises the importance of Mossley Mill in terms of both its conservation and recent developments,” alderman Webb commented.

Museums and Heritage Officer, Samantha Curry added: “We are very proud of this award as it highlights what has been achieved at Mossley Mill, both in terms of the museum itself and the overall historic site.”

The museum and gallery are open from Monday to Wednesday 10am - 5pm, Thursdays 10am - 9pm, Fridays 10am - 4pm and Saturdays 11am - 4pm. Admission is free.
