AFTER losing an amazing 8 stone 2lb and winning a Northern Ireland slimming competition, the only thing that’s big about Paula Smyth now is her exciting new career and being able to breathe easy.
Paula, who has just launched a new Slimming World class in Ballyclare, has dropped from a dress size 24 to a size 10 in just 17 months, and her transformation hasn’t gone unnoticed. As a target member of Slimming World since May last year, Paula was named her local group’s winning Woman of the Year 2012. And before Christmas, she went one step further and won the title of District Woman of the Year for Northern Ireland.
The mum-of-two, who has suffered from asthma for years, joined Slimming World in January 2011 after becoming increasingly unhappy with her weight and the health risks associated with her medical condition.
“I tried lots of different diets but they usually left me feeling hungry and miserable and I would give up and go back to my old ways eating junk,” Paula explained.
“Then I would feel so ashamed as I would think ‘What is wrong with me? Why can I not stick at it and lose weight?’
“Thankfully, Slimming World was completely different, I never have to go hungry and I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve been in years.”
Having been inspired by Slimming World’s Food Optimising Plan and losing weight, Paula has now undertaken intensive training at Slimming World’s head office in Derbyshire to become a consultant herself.
Her new group commenced on January 31 and will meet in Ballyclare Rugby Club every Thursday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm throughout the entire year.
