NEWTOWNABBEY Borough Council has launched its new ‘More’ brand across its leisure centres.

The colourful new branding aims to promote and encourage More people to be More active, More often.

The launch of the new brand comes in response to results of the local authority’s Active and Healthier Lifestyle survey, which was carried out in the last issue of Source magazine. Details of the survey’s findings are expected to be made public after they are presented to the council’s Leisure Committee meeting on April 9.

The council now plays a major role in tackling wider health and social issues, as well as aiding the government’s objectives of having a healthier and more active population. By increasing the number of fitness classes it offers, and by widening its target audience, the council is hoping to reach its goal of achieving this.

The More brand will be linked to the variety of health and fitness facilities and services offered in local leisure centres.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Mayor Victor Robinson commented: “Here in Newtownabbey we are fortunate to have such fabulous leisure facilities on our doorstep and we all now know the importance of taking those steps towards a healthier lifestyle. I’d like to encourage everyone to try and do a little bit More! If we all make that effort, together as a borough we can get More people, More Active, More often.”

A wide range of courses and classes are available at the Valley and Sixmile leisure centres. For further details log on to ww.newtownabbey.gov.uk
