A new sculpture can now be found on the Newtownabbey Way, just beside the Doagh Road bridge.

The sculpture, designed by children from Mossley Primary School, was created out of a standing tree trunk by Owen Crawford.

“The sculpture of a girl surrounded by a variety of wildlife sitting on a pile of books is symbolic of the Newtownabbey Way and what it means to local children.

“The final design was a combination of entries from three local school children - Katie Arthur, Maddison Wilson and Naomi Fegan,” a council spokesperson explained.

“Take a walk along the Newtownabbey Way and check it out. You will be amazed that this piece of art was created by a very talented gentleman with a chainsaw,” she added.
