Students studying for their Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care at the Northern Regional College, Newtownabbey Campus have presented a cheque for £127 to the Rotary Club.

The money was raised by the students in support of the work which the Rotary Club undertakes throughout the community. John Pillar, NRC Curriculum Manager for Social Care and Early Years explains:“Every year we encourage Health & Social Care students to raise money for a range of charities. The students on this particular occasion, dressed up in pyjamas and one dressed up as an elf to fundraise within the Newtownabbey Campus, before Christmas, in support of Rotary Club.”

John added: “As part of their studies we encourage students to learn new skills and improve their communication which helps build up their confidence and self awareness and prepare them for the world of work. This experience is invaluable and will assist them for when they are they are out in the workplace.”

Collecting the cheque on behalf of Rotary Club, Iain Patterson thanked the students for their hard work and stated that he was delighted that they had recognised the Rotary Club for their charity work, within the community.
