BACKSTAGE passes were given out to 18 lucky teenagers last week (Monday 18 to Saturday 23 July) at the Theatre at The Mill.

The 14 to 18-year-olds were let loose on the equipment at the state-of-the-art theatre as part of a specialised workshop designed to teach young people about what goes on behind the scenes at a theatre production.

Throughout the week-long ‘Backstage Works’ programme, the participants picked up trade secrets in lighting, sound, stage management, props and flying by real technical pros from Guildford Theatre company. They also staged their own production at the end of the workshop for friends and family, applying all the skills and tips they had picked up during the week.
