PRESIDENT Joy Parkinson welcomed everyone to the June meeting of Ballyclare WI, which took the form of a ‘Visitors Night’.
Guest speaker for the evening was Pearl Mitchell from Style Solutions in Ballymena, who gave an interesting and informative talk about choosing the right holiday clothes and how to pack them most efficiently. She also provided members with some very worthwhile travel tips.
Penny McBride proposed the vote of thanks to the speaker, and Barbara Shanks proposed a vote of thanks to Ballyclare WI on behalf of all the visitors.
The competition for the most versatile piece of jewellery was won by Noreen Hall and runner-up was Margaret Coleman.
Meanwhile, for their June outing, the members of Ballyclare WI went to Greenmount College in Antrim to help celebrate 80 years of the Women’s Institute in Northern Ireland. The ladies spent a pleasant afternoon browsing around the various craft stalls, watching demonstrations, listening to music and walking through the beautiful grounds. Afterwards they enjoyed a lovely meal in the Dunsilly Arms before making their way home.
Following the summer break, Ballyclare WI will hold its Annual General Meeting on September 4.
