A CAST of over 80 children from across Northern Ireland, including eight rising stars from the Newtownabbey area, are in final preparations for a full scale production of ‘The Wiz’ which will be staged at the Theatre at The Mill on January 20 and 21.
The production is by Northern Ireland’s newest leading theatre school for young people, The Belfast School of Performing Arts, which opened its doors at the start of 2011.
Singer, actor and all round performer, James Huish established the school along with Tina McVeigh from Jordanstown, in order to provide talented young people, aged 6 to 18, with the opportunity to dance, sing and act, learning from some of the finest experts in the business.
The School is preparing to deliver a full scale professional production at Newtownabbey’s Theatre at The Mill later this month, when children will be performing ‘The Wiz’. This is an urbanised re-telling of the family favourite ‘ The Wizard of Oz’ and packed as it is with soulful Motown style tunes, performances are sure to have the audience humming along even after the final curtain falls!
Tickets for the show, priced at £14.50 and £12.50 (concessions), can be obtained by calling the box office on 9034 0202 or by logging on to www.theatreatthemill.com
