TWO New Mossley brothers have been jailed for life for their part in the murder of Ballyduff man Tommy English.
Robert John Stewart, 35, from Carntall Rise in Newtownabbey, and his brother, David Ian Stewart, 39, from Ballyearl Rise in Newtownabbey, were handed mandatory life sentences at Belfast Crown Court on Friday for aiding and abetting in the murder of Mr English.
The pair will be given their life tariff at a hearing in September.
Mr English, who was 40, was gunned down by the UVF during a loyalist feud in October 2000. Mr English was a former member of an Ulster Democratic Party which had links to the UDA and UFF.
Nine other people have been charged in connection with Mr English's murder. The case is the first to be brought to court by the PSNI’s Historical Enquiries Team (HET) - a special unit set up to look into unsolved murders.
