FOUR men who robbed an elderly woman in her Glengormley home at the weekend have been branded "the scum of the earth" and "pure evil".
The gang, who had their faces covered with masks, forced their way into the disabled 86-year-old's house in Harmin Park at around 10.30pm on Saturday (January 23).
One of the robbers, who was armed with a screwdriver, threatened the woman and pushed her onto a bed. The men searched the house and made off with a sum of cash.
The woman wasn't physically injured, but was left badly shaken by the terrifying ordeal.
Mark Lewis from Harmin Residents' Association, who visited the woman on Sunday, described the men who carried out the robbery as "scum."
"It's difficult to find the words to describe the people who did this. Attacking a woman in her 80s in her home for the sake of two hundred pounds - they're the scum of the earth," he said.
"We just want to let people know that this has happened in the area and to urge people to be careful. There's nothing this lady could've done as they broke her door in, but people should be aware that it has happened," he added.
