A BALLYCLARE pensioner has been left housebound after his car was destroyed in a vandalism attack.
The 75-year-old, who suffers from arthritis, awoke on Friday morning to find that the vehicle had been completely burned out overnight. Police are investigating the incident.

The 1997 Polo had been parked at the rear of flats in the Grange Drive estate off the Doagh Road. Another car, belonging to an elderly neighbour, was damaged in the attack.

“My car’s a complete write-off and it’s been towed away,” said the pensioner. “It’s a real setback because I live on my own and as I have arthritis, I depend on it to get out and about for groceries.”

The local man plans to replace the 1997 Polo, which had passed its MoT just last week, but is concerned about the security of any new car.

“There’s no other place to park here except the cul-de-sac, so I don’t know what I will do to keep it safe,” he said.
