Police appeal over car theft

POLICE believe a car stolen in Newtownabbey was used in a number of serious incidents of theft and dangerous driving in Lurgan on Thursday (May 1).
It is understood a white Audi was stolen from a carpark at Abbey Trading Estate on Thursday afternoon. Just after 10pm, this vehicle with five male occupants on board failed to stop for police on Edward Street. The vehicle was then abandoned in Ardboe Drive at around 10.30pm.

Five men were later arrested for for taking and driving away and numerous driving offences.

Officers are appealing for witnesses may have information which could assist them their inquiries. The number to ring is 0845 600 8000 or contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555111.

Police are also investigating criminal damage caused to a red Hyundai in a car park at Abbey Trading Estate on Thursday afternoon and believe these incidents to be linked.
