Teen remanded on murder charge

A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with the murder of a Rathcoole man in Portrush.
Glen Allen, 19, from Glenarm Avenue, Portrush appeared before a special sitting of Ballymena Magistrates Court. He was remanded in custody.
Thirty-five-year-old William Meek's body was discovered after a fire at a flat at Causeway Street in the town on June 25. He was originally from the Rathcoole estate.
The accused spoke only to confirm his name, at Saturday's hearing.
A police detective inspector told the court he believed he could connect the defendant with the charge.
