DETECTIVES have issued an appeal for witnesses following an assault that occurred on Arthur's Bridge at the Whitewell Road in the early hours of Saturday morning (November 21).
Shortly before 3am, two males aged 18 and 17 and a female aged 19 were walking along the Arthur Road bridge when they were set upon by a group of unknown males, all wearing hooded tops.

The 18-year-old boy was struck on the head with a golf club and sustained head and facial injuries, while his two companions also sustained cuts and bruises during the incident.

Detectives are treating the assault as sectarian and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak with a member of the public who was out jogging in the area and passed by the victims immediately following the assault.

Investigating officers have urged anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
