YOU have been giving us your opinions on the council's decision to pull the plug on a summer pop party at Hazelbank Park.
Chart-topping bands, McFly and The Saturdays were being lined up for the August gig but last month local councillors decided against staging the event.
Posting her comments from the Times website, www.newtownabbeytimes.co.uk, Laura McAleese said: "I was extremely disappointed in hearing that the plug was pulled on plans to have a concert with McFly and The Saturdays.
"As a huge fan of both bands, I feel extremely annoyed at the killjoys who have decided not to let this event to go ahead.
"These bands don't even play in Ireland on their own tours so us fans miss out in seeing them.
"I think the council need to rethink their ideas and take into account the thousands of McFly and The Saturdays fans in Northern Ireland and trust me, there are a lot of them."
But Raymond Stewart, from Mossley, said: "I was present at the council meeting where this matter was fully discussed and must commend those councillors who opposed the Hazelbank August gig plan.
"As a ratepayer I believe that it is ridiculous to bring 10,000 + people into this part of the borough, as such would only be asking for trouble given the reality that alcohol would be freely available.
"Well done to councillors who spoke out against this, it is a victory for common sense and must be welcomed by all decent citizens who desire peace and quiet."
McFly fan Jamie Wood contacted this paper by email and said: "I have recently travelled to Ireland and would love to see the band in concert here.
"Please re-consider your views on the concert, there are many people who would love to see them play."
Promoter Mervyn Boyd, from TCB Productions, said: "I'm just really disappointed with the decision.
"I think it would have been a huge thing for Newtownabbey.
"I'm dumbfounded as to why the council wouldn't give it more consideration."
