A Ballyclare man celebrated winning a fantastic goody bag of prizes from a huge variety of businesses in Glengormley town centre.
Aaron McConnell won £100 worth of goods and services as part of the Get into Glengormley campaign’s text to win summer competition.
As part of the prize Aaron won a family pass for the Movie House, a spray tan and nail file and polish from Heavenly Beauty, a £10 meat pack from Thompson’s Butchers, a £20 voucher from Ink World, a hand-tied bouquet from Flowers by Reid’s and lunch at Eden Cafe for two.
Aaron said: “I am delighted to have won the £100 goody bag for Glengormley, I never win anything.
“I’m going to enjoy lunch out and a movie with my friends.
“I’ll be giving the flowers to my gran and my girlfriends can have the spray tan.
“The goody bag also sorts out meat for the barbecue, as well as ink for my printer - it’s a fantastic prize.”
The aim of the competition was to raise the awareness of local businesses in Glengormley and show that there is a wide variety of essential services in the town centre to cater for all needs.
The competition also coincided with Independent Retailer Month which highlights the important role that small local and independent retailers play in the communities they serve, and the local economy they contribute to.
Get into Glengormley is part of the Department of Social Development funded revitalisation programme for both Glengormley and Ballyclare.
It’s aim is to improve business by encouraging more people to consider either town for their shopping and other needs.
Lisa O’Kane, Newtownabbey Borough Council added: “We are delighted to present £100 goody bag to Aaron.
“I think the wide variety of local goodies in the prize goes to show there is something for everyone to discover right on their doorstep in Glengormley”
