Alliance Councillor Tom Campbell says that he is ‘looking forward’ to taking his seat on the new Antrim and Newtownabbey supercouncil after his election success.
Mr Campbell, who has served on Newtownabbey Council for the last nine years, told The Times: “I’m looking forward to working on the new expanded Council. I hope that consensus will be a byword but that remains to be seen.
“I’m keen to work with others in the best interests of people in the new combined Council areas.
“I have been a Councillor in Newtownabbey since 2005, and before that I was a Councillor in Belfast for 12 years.”
Responding to his party colleague Lynn Frazer’s failure to secure a seat on the new Council, Mr Campbell stated: “Lynn has achieved a great deal as a representative of the people of this borough and previously served as distinction as Mayor.
“I am sorry that she will not be sitting on the new extended Council.”
