SATURDAY’S 55th Annual Match organised by the Ballyboley and District Tractor Ploughing Society was postponed, because the lands on the Templepatrick Road just outside Ballyclare, were waterlogged.
As Secretary Raymond Clifford explained: “It’s disappointing, for we had a good entry of over 50 competitors, and plenty of ground, only for the rain to come and spoil it. It was the heavy rain on Wednesday night that did the damage, and on Thursday, the ground was swimming.
“But there’s meant to be some dry weather this week, and we’re hopeful of going again this Saturday - and if not, then near the end of March. With Drummaul’s match, scheduled for this Saturday, already called off, it would be an ideal chance for us to step in - but we’ll have to check what the ground is like in the middle of the week.”
