Police are appealing for information after two men, both wearing balaclavas and one armed with a firearm, stole a car from a house in New Mossley on Monday evening (September 28).

The men entered the house through the back door around 11pm and confronted the male and female occupants in the kitchen.

The firearm was pointed at the occupants and a demand was made for the keys to their car. The men made off in the white Peugeot 308.

The vehicle was discovered on fire a short time later at nearby Kiln Road. A handbag was also reported to have been stolen from the house.

Sergeant Colin Gray said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity near Ballycraigy Gardens or Kiln Road on Monday evening to contact detectives at Antrim on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
