Ballyclare High School fire ‘deliberate’

A fire at Ballyclare High School on Friday afternoon is being treated as deliberate.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 4:38pm to a report of a fire at Rashee Road on Friday, September 9.

“Two fire appliances from Ballyclare Fire Station and one fire appliance from Glengormley Fire Station were deployed to the scene of a fire at a school in the area. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hosereel jets dealt with a ground floor fire in the area. The corridor area was smoke logged as a result of the fire.

“Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service finished at the scene at 6:44pm and the fire is being treated as deliberate.”

The Times contacted the school for a comment on the incident, but none was forthcoming at the time of publication.
