The grandmother of Carrickfergus crash victim Jackson Turner is now ‘stable’, the Belfast Health Trust has said.

Margaret Saunders had been in a critical condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital following the Boxing Day crash, which claimed the life of seven-year-old Jackson.

Mrs Saunders was travelling in the car with her grandson and his four-year-old sister Ally when the three-car collision occurred on the Old Carrick Road, Newtownabbey.

Ally suffered bruising, but was released from hospital a day later.

A spokesperson for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust confirmed today (Tuesday) that Mrs Saunders’ condition is now “stable”.

Jackson was laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery on Saturday afternoon after a funeral service in Carrickfergus.
