With the school holidays just around the corner, Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to announce the arrival of ‘Brighter Nights’.
Bringing light and laughter into Glengormley’s Lilian Bland Community Park every Friday evening between 7pm and 9pm from June 22 until August 31, ‘Brighter Nights’ will offer a range of fun activities for all the family and offer the chance to make the most of long summer evenings and get that Friday feeling - even if sunshine is in short supply!
The project is supported by the European Union Peace III programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the CAN Peace III Partnership.
‘Brighter Nights’ was launched recently at the Uptown Hoedown, also held at the Carnmoney Road park. The activity programme has a range of themes for each Friday from dance, arts, play, and of course, as it’s 2012 there will even be Olympic-themed sessions in July and August.
The council’s Leisure and Culture Development Manager, Ursula Fay said: “Brighter Nights aims to give the entire Glengormley community free Friday family fun throughout summer by offering a varied programme of activities and events with everything from zumba, wildlife displays, magic shows to street theatre and arts. Every generation will be catered for and we want to see the Lilian Bland Community Park alive with laughter on Friday nights for all the family to enjoy the long summer evenings come rain, hail or shine.”
Tomorrow night, (Friday, June 22), there will be a Dance and Play Event at the park and information about other upcoming Brighter Nights is available on www.newtownabbey.gov.uk/Brighternights or visit www.facebook.com/uptownhoedown
