Burglars steal jewellery from 87-year-old woman

Detectives have issued an appeal for information following a distraction type burglary which occurred in the Carnvue Court area of Carnmoney on Tuesday evening (October 22).

At around 5pm an 87-year-old woman was approached by a young man who engaged her in conversation in her garden. A second male walked past the garden while she was talking.

When she went back into her home she discovered someone had ransacked her bedroom and made off with several items of jewellery.

The first male is described as being aged in his late 20s, between 5ft 6ins - 5ft 8ins tall. His hair came down over his ears and he was wearing silver rimmed glasses.

The second male is described as 6ft tall, well built, late 20s and was wearing a navy anorak.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who noticed two males acting suspiciously in the area to contact them at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000.
