Newtownabbey firm Capita Managed IT Solutions has been re-awarded a managed IT services contract with a high-achieving London school, The Central Foundation Boys School (CFBS).

The contract, part of a multi-million pound investment in the school’s building and ICT infrastructure, extends a successful partnership first established in 2010 when the Church Road-based IT Solutions provider was appointed to audit and manage the school’s IT provision.

The level of technology investment was a result of the school’s recognition that ICT lies at the heart of the education curriculum and also reflects its proximity to ‘Tech City’ - the Old Street area of East London, which has seen major investment by local and multi-national technology organisations in recent years. The school hopes to create opportunities for their pupils with nearby companies by equipping them with the necessary skills and working knowledge of the most up to date technologies.

The contract will see Capita implement a comprehensive refurbishment of the school’s IT infrastructure, install of a secure wireless network within their sixth form IT suite and carry out an audit of the print and reprographics function. Capita will also manage the migration of CFBS’s email and other services to the Cloud, making e-textbooks, educational video content, research and applications available to teachers and pupils on their own devices.

As well as enhancing the learning and teaching experience for pupils and teachers alike, the investment will deliver significant cost savings and, thanks to its flexibility, can be effectively adapted over time to meet the changing requirements of the school.

Chris Wiseman, education sales director at Capita said: “This contract award consolidates our position as a trusted partner of CFBS. Over the past three years we have seen a sea change in the school’s ICT offering and in pupils’ engagement with technology and the benefits it delivers. This new investment will extend the already positive results achieved by this historic school campus.”

Meanwhile, Capita this week also secured a three-year contract extension with the London-based Jewish Community Secondary School.

Capita currently provides specialist ICT managed services and technology solutions to over 2,500 schools, academies, colleges and universities across the UK and has an unrivalled 30 years experience in the education sector.
